Transport / No flights at Tingwall after technical fault
Update: flights resumed on Saturday 25 September.
NO inter-island flights are operating out of Tingwall Airport at the moment after a technical fault with one of the planes.
It happened whilst the standby aircraft is south for scheduled maintenance.
A spokesperson for Shetland Islands Council said operator Airtask is therefore currently unable to operate flights.
An engineer arrived in Shetland earlier today (Friday) and the hope is that flights can resume on Saturday.
“We like to apologise to passengers for this disruption,” the council spokesperson said.
“Further updates are available from service provider Airtask, either on their social media channels, or by contacting them directly at Tingwall Airport on 01595 840246.”
The airport operates fights from Tingwall to Fair Isle and Foula.
