News / Vic Galloway gig cancelled
POOR ticket sales for Saturday night’s Vic Galloway Presents…concert at Mareel featuring Scottish and Shetland indie bands has forced Shetland Arts to cancel the event at short notice.
Shetland Arts announced the gig featuring The Phantom Band, Honeyblood and The Last could not go ahead on such pre-ticket sales.
People who have already purchased tickets can get a refund from Shetland Box Office, Mareel or Islesburgh community centre.
Marketing officer Lisa Ward said: “We planned this gig with the aim of filling a gap in the market for quality visiting artists performing alongside original local talent.
“However, sadly and unexpectedly given the amount of requests we’ve had for events of this type in the past, it hasn’t generated the interest we hoped it would.
“We are keen to hear from music fans in Shetland, particularly young music fans, as to what kind of events they would prefer to see us put on, so we can better meet demand and avoid disappointment in future.”
