News / RSPB warden fined after foy crash
A WILDLIFE warden working on a Shetland island during the summer has been fined at Lerwick Sheriff Court for allowing a friend to drive her car without insurance.
On Wednesday the court heard that Anna Angelina Broskiewicz, of 2 Bowhill, Leicester, was working on Fetlar after being seconded from her home town by the wildlife charity RSPB.
Procurator fiscal Sue Foard said Broskiewicz’s hire car came to the police’s attention after it left the road and suffered minor damage during the annual Fetlar foy on 19 June.
The 39 year old admitted to police that she had allowed Paul Geraghty, of Surrey, to drive the car even though he had no insurance to do so, saying that she was concerned that it might get damaged during the festival.
Sheriff Graeme Napier fined Broskiewicz £250 and gave her three penalty points, while the case against Geraghty, who lives at 6a High Street, Addlestone, was continued without plea.
