Business / Scalloway Hotel bar could reopen later this month
PINTS could be poured again at the Scalloway Hotel later this month as work progresses on its renovation.
The new owners will open up the bar first, as well as the rooms, but the kitchen side is needing more work.
The 23-room hotel has been shut since closing in 2020, and at the tail end of last year it was bought by new owners.
Carl Cross, a director of local wholesale company Hughson Brothers, bought hotel alongside his boss Robert Boulton, and his family is set to run things.
Speaking this week Cross said “we are getting there” – with the renovated bar expected to have a soft opening later this month subject to necessary approvals being in place. The date will be announced on social media.
The hotel is also taking bookings for rooms, and reservations have already been made.
Meanwhile the hotel changing hands comes at a time when multi-million pound proposals have been drawn up to improve the waterfront and centre of Scalloway.
Nearby in Asta the new caravan park, which is being built by the Scalloway Community Development Company, is set to reveal an opening date soon.
