News / Cannabis dealers to learn fate in December
SENTENCE has been deferred on two men who pleaded guilty on Wednesday to supplying cannabis over a 16 month period in Shetland.
Alasdair David Kelly, 28, of Inchrye, Sandwick and Mitchell James Cross, 26, of the Observatory, Lerwick, admitted supplying cannabis and cannabis resin from their homes and other addresses and locations in Lerwick and the cargo boat Helliar.
Lerwick Sheriff Court heard that police seized class B drugs worth £30,000 during an investigation into drug dealing that went on between 4 September 2015 and 18 December 2016.
Following a hearing on Thursday, when Kelly was represented by his solicitor Gregor Kelly, Sheriff Ian Cruickshank deferred sentence on him for the provision of a social work report, with a hearing fixed for 5 December when both men will appear.
Sentence on Cross had been deferred the previous day pending a social work report.
