AIRTASK has been awarded the new contract for running inter-island flights in Shetland.
The company has run services from Tingwall Airport for a number of years.
The latest contract will only feature flights to Fair Isle and Foula after Papa Stour was taken off the schedule following consultation with the community.
The service to Skerries has not been running since 2015.
POLICE are continuing enquiries into an alleged incident at the Rerwick beach in the south mainland where a person apparently scared seals while driving a quad bike.
It was reported to the police shortly after midday on Sunday (8 March).
Officers attended the beach but there was no trace of a quad bike.
Video footage of the quad bike being driven on the beach was shared on social media.
THE POLICE are also reminding people to observe orcas responsibly as spring approaches.
They are encouraging boat owners to be mindful of the code of conduct in relation to marine life observation, which can be accessed from the Scottish Natural Heritage website.
It is also advised that those wishing to view the animals from a vehicle remain aware of other road users and pedestrians at all times.
Officers are also reminding people to keep their dogs under control when walking near to local livestock areas as lambing season approaches.
TWO tribute bands will play in Shetland over the space of a week in June.
What The Floyd: The Music of Pink Floyd will return to the isles for a gig at Mareel on 14 June after performing at the venue last year.
Stone Roses tribute act Resurrection, meanwhile, will play the Lerwick Legion on 20 June.
Tickets for both gigs are available via the Shetland Arts box office.
