News / Ollaberry post office relaunch
THE OLLABERRY post office will open in its new premises at the local shop later this month.
Postal services will be available at the Ollaberry Shop seven days a week from 9am on 22 March.
The current Ollaberry post office will close at 5.30pm on 19 March.
The opening hours of the new post office will increase by 18 hours a week, with services available between 9am and 6pm Monday to Saturday.
On Sundays the post office will be open between 2pm and 5pm.
Services will be “provided at an open-plan counter position integrated into the retail counter, instead of from a separate screened counter”.
The move comes as long-serving village postmistress Jean Stephen retires from her role.
A number of services will be on offer at the new post office, including “special delivery, local collect, home shopping returns”, with people able to make “online banking cash deposits and withdrawals, withdrawals using a Post Office card account, send funds abroad using Moneygram, pay bills, pre-order travel money, apply for travel insurance and top up mobile phones.”
Post Office regional network manager Suzanne Richardson commented:
“We are confident that this vibrant new-style post office will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office.”
