News / Lifeboat support
A RECORD breaking £10,500 have been raised for the RNLI charity during Saturday’s Lerwick lifeboat open day.
Member of the Lerwick Ladies Lifeboat Guild, Moria Leask, said: “We had an absolutely fantastic day. The sun shone and brought the crowds out in their droves.
“The NorthLink trip around Bressay and Noss, was, once again, a popular part of the event attracting 312 people.
“Passengers who joined the Hjaltland for the trip were not only entertained by the diving gannets off the cliffs of Noss, they also enjoyed a display by the lifeboat and fast rescue craft from the Hjaltland.”
She added: “It is so good to see so many people supporting the lifeboat, and recognising the value of a service that is at the heart of our community.”
