Election / Conservatives name candidate for May election
THE CONSERVATIVES have selected Nick Tulloch as the party’s Shetland candidate in the upcoming Scottish Parliament election.
He worked in financial services in London and Edinburgh for more than two decades after studying law at Oxford University.
Tulloch spent much of the latter part of his career specialising in oil ad gas, including advising companies operating out of Shetland.
He also says he has some family connections to Fetlar which can be traced back to the 1700s.
Tulloch said: “I am absolutely delighted and honoured to have been selected by local members to stand as the Conservative candidate for Shetland.
“My campaign will be focused on the issues affecting locals and will set out the Scottish Conservatives’ vision, under Douglas Ross’ solid leadership, of a real alternative to the failing SNP administration, weak Liberal Democrats, and the disappearing Labour Party.”
Shetland Conservative Association chairman Maurice Mullay added: “We are delighted to have a Conservative candidate for Shetland of the calibre and quality of Nick. His business background is a tremendous asset and will ensure that he can represent the islands and islanders’ interests at the highest levels with ability, confidence, diligence and enthusiasm.”
