Energy / Viking turbine blades arrive
OFFLOADING the first shipment of turbine blades for the Viking Energy wind farm is underway at the Greenhead Base in Lerwick today (Friday).
The first consignment of 57 metre long blades arrived on board the BBC Belem on Thursday afternoon. Offloading and storage will continue over the weekend but it is weather dependent.
A total of 22 shipments with turbine components is expected at Lerwick over coming weeks and months. The first turbine is set to be erected in March this year.
