Coronavirus / New Covid death registered
A COVID related death has been registered in Shetland.
It was registered in the week commencing 17 January.
It was included in National Records of Scotland figures, meaning Covid-19 was mentioned on the person’s death certificate.
This is different to Public Health Scotland statistics, which include people who died within 28 days of their first laboratory confirmed report of Covid-19.
In December NHS Shetland said in response to a freedom of information request that all Covid-19 deaths in the isles at that point had Covid recorded as the “underlying cause of death”.
“They all also had other medical conditions which contributed to their death, i.e. none of the deaths were due solely to Covid-19,” it added.
Meanwhile a further 32 new Covid cases have been confirmed in Shetland.
This is broken down into 27 lateral flow test results and five PCRs.
