Arts / Accordion and fiddle club hosts ‘alternative’ festival weekend
The first event will take place at the Gulberwick Hall tonight (Friday)
TWO traditional music concerts are taking place over the coming days on what would have been the Shetland Accordion and Fiddle Festival weekend.
It will be a somewhat rare chance to catch some live music considering the last 18 months – and a welcome return to the scene for the local accordion and fiddle club.
A number of acts will perform at the Gulberwick Hall tonight (Friday) to kick off the festival’s “alternative weekend”.
They include Da Fustra, Ryan and Ross Drakeford, Callum Irvine and Kirmirren.
The concert will kick off at 7.30pm and gig-goers can pay on the door, although numbers may be limited.
Meanwhile there will be an informal afternoon of traditional Shetland and Scottish music at the Lerwick Legion on Saturday (9 October) from 1pm.
Everyone is welcome and people can pay on the door, with musicians able to attend for free.
Covid guidelines will be place throughout both events.
The Shetland Accordion and Fiddle Festival was postponed in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic.
