Marine / People invited to get rid of unwanted marine pyrotechnics
ANYONE with unwanted marine pyrotechnics is being encouraged to hand them in to the coastguard on Wednesday.
The ‘amnesty’ is for private boat owners and non-commercial fishing vessels only.
It will be held at the entrance to the Staney Hill quarry between 10am and 6pm.
The coastguard said the collection of these items is to allow members of the public to dispose of their marine pyrotechnics in a safe manner.
People are asked to package the flares securely in a cardboard box for safe transport to the drop-off point.
On arrival wait for a member of the HM coastguard team to approach and collect the flares.
The coastguard staff will be practising social distancing and wearing appropriate PPE.
More information can be obtained from the coastguard via 01595 692976.
