Business / Booze licence request submitted for Premier Inn hotel
PREPARATIONS are progressing for a Premier Inn hotel in Lerwick, with the company behind the chain applying for a provisional alcohol licence.
Whitbread Group has applied to sell alcohol from the proposed hotel on South Road seven days a week from 11am to 12.30am.
The company has also asked Shetland Islands Council’s licensing board for an ‘off the premises’ licence from 11am to 10pm, seven days a week.
The application is set to go in front of Lerwick Community Council on Monday.
Objections and representations can be made to the licensing board until 14 November.
The hotel, backed by Aberdeen-based property developer Ardent Group, would be located on the Brevik House site on South Road.
Brevik House, a former NHS headquarters, would be demolished to make way.
Earlier this year planning permission was approved for a 91 bedroom hotel, but the developers later gained consent to bring this number to 98.
