AIR TRAVEL in and out of Shetland is slowly getting back to normal after two days of havoc caused by fog and low clouds.
All scheduled flights operated through Sumburgh airport had to be cancelled on Wednesday as were the first two flights out of Sumburgh on Thursday morning.
However, as the fog started to lift, the morning plane from Aberdeen managed to land just 40 minutes behind schedule allowing for the 8.20am plane to Aberdeen to leave at just before half past nine.
Meanwhile, at Scatsta airport, flying has been resumed after two days of disruptions.
On Wednesday there was no aircraft movement at all, while on Tuesday only the mail plane, diverted from Sumburgh, managed to get in. Helicopters were grounded due to thick fog offshore.
A spokesman said they had a big “catching up” job to do expected to last well into the weekend.
