Business / Change to come at Da Cross as Miller Opticians goes up for lease
THERE is set to be change at the Market Cross in Lerwick as the owner of Miller Opticians gets set for retirement.
The business has been based at the prime location since 1991, but the retail unit is now available for lease.
Owner Gillian Miller said she does not have a date yet for her retirement – “it just depends what the response is to the lease of the premises”.
“I’m just going to lease it locally to any other business if they think they will be viable,” she said.
Before moving to the Cross, Miller’s started life up Mounthooly Street in 1989.
Miller – who owns the property – said trade at the opticians has been “very busy”.
“We’re just busy updating everything, making sure everyone gets seen that wants to be seen,” she added.
“There’s been a few enquiries already about the lease of the premises. It’s in a good position, so I think it shouldn’t be a problem to get it leased out.”
Meanwhile the Tangled hair salon on Commercial Street, just a short distance away from the Market Cross, has also become available for lease or for purchase.
