News / Crowdfunder cash would be icing on the cake for tearoom
A WOMAN who runs a popular roadside cake fridge has launched a crowdfunding campaign to secure extra cash for furnishing her planned tearoom.
Lynn Johnson, who bakes fancies for her honesty box style cake fridge at East Burrafirth, is giving perks in return for pledges as she looks ahead to opening a 20-seat tearoom next year.
As previously reported, the tearoom would be located in a refurbished cottage next to the fridge.
Lynn said the crowdfunded cash “will be specific to furnishing the tearoom to make it the quirky and quaint experience we are planning to achieve”.
“Any additional funds received above the desired target will go towards creating a outdoor seating area which can be enjoyed by visitors to The Cake Fridge or tearoom,” she added.
Work on creating the tearoom is expected to be completed in April/May 2019.
The 24-hour cake fridge, meanwhile, recently received more national coverage when the cast of BBC crime drama Shetland took to Twitter after stopping by for bite to eat while filming.
