News / Two trustees resign over SYIS closure
TWO council members of Shetland Charitable Trust have handed in their resignation in disgust at the way the decision was made to remove funding from the Shetland Youth Information Service.
Peter Campbell and George Smith announced their resignation separately on Tuesday morning in emails to the local media.
Both councillors sit on the board of directors of SYIS and were unable to participate in the debate held in private, which voted to remove funding at the end of March.
Campbell said he was unhappy with legal advice that a letter he had written to fellow trustees should not be distributed prior to the meeting.
Smith said that he did not feel the report presented to trustees presented an “accurate picture of the current situation pertaining to SYIS”.
