Arts / Mareel recording studio opens its doors
AN OPEN day is being held at Mareel this weekend to give people a chance to learn more about its recording studio.
The state of the art facility will be opened to the public on Saturday (3 November) for anyone to have a look around – even if it’s just for a nosey.
People who are interested in having a project recorded at the studio, which can be found upstairs in the arts venue, are also encouraged to attend.
The studio, led by Lau soundman Tim Matthew, has been used by a host of local artists, as well as international musicians.
It also has produced radio adverts, soundtracks for TV and film and audio for Up Helly Aa squads – while old reel to reel tapes have also been digitised.
The open day will take place between 10am and 6pm, with a drop-in session set for 10am to 11am.
To book a free slot between 11am and 6pm to discuss projects, visit the Shetland Arts box office, phone 01595 745500 or visit Mareel in person.
