Community / Relay for Life postponed
THE RELAY for Life fundraiser has been postponed until 2021 due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The biennial event, which was scheduled to take place at the Clickimin on 30 May to raise money for Cancer Research, has been put off until May 2021.
Its committee said the “decision has not been taken lightly”, but it feels it is important to respond to the situation in a way that prioritises the health of participants.
The Shetland’s Got Talent fundraising show at Mareel scheduled for 18 April has also been postponed until 24 October.
Relay for Shetland Shetland committee chair Martin Henderson said: “Our thoughts are with everyone who is currently having to deal with this situation directly and indirectly.
“We will continue to explore ways that we can support our communities and Cancer Research UK over the coming year and we are looking forward to seeing you all at Shetland’s Got Talent in autumn.
“We are incredibly grateful for the work and money that has already been raised by you all.”
If any relay teams have any questions they are asked to submit them to shetlandrelaychair@yahoo.co.uk.
