Arts / Murals add splash of colour to Da Street
COMMERCIAL Street is enjoying a bit more colour after two murals were painted as part of the LOCUS public art trail.
Pieces by artist Gavin Renshaw adorn side walls of Bayes and No.88.
He said the concept behind the work was to “look at the intrinsic relationship and historical connection that Shetland has between land and sea in regard to not only livelihood and travel but in the spiritual and primal sense of ancient and future culture”.

Another mural, from Cobolt Collective, is planned for the wall adjacent to the Peerie Shop Cafe. They were picked after a public vote.
The LOCUS public art trail also includes four sculptures recently installed in and around Da Street.
Shetland Arts and Living Lerwick are behind the project, which is supported by Scottish Government’s Town Centre Fund.
