SHETLAND Care Attendant Scheme, which was formerly known as Crossroads Shetland, has received a £2,000 funding boost from Tesco’s Bags of Help community grant scheme.
The charity provides respite relief to carers throughout the isles, allowing them to have quality time on their own in the knowledge that their relative or loved one is safe and being looked after.
Karen Fraser of the care attendant scheme said: “We are delighted and very grateful to receive this funding from Tesco’s Bags of Help Scheme. It will be used to provide support to carers all over Shetland.”
The supermarket’s Bags of Help raises money through the sale of plastic carrier bags, which is then used to fund local community projects.
Shoppers have the chance to vote for their favourite community initiative every time they shop.
Tesco said that more than £56 million in grants have been provided to over 16,000 community projects across the country since 2015.
