Education / Perez peacoat auction secures £2,700 for Glasgow school
THE AUCTION of a Jimmy Perez peacoat has raised more than £2,700 for a school in Glasgow.
It was one of many items which featured in an online auction to raise extra funds for Garnetbank Primary School.
The distinctive wool peacoat, used by actor Douglas Henshall in the Shetland TV series, started off at £300.
The auction opened at teatime on Thursday and by 3pm on Friday the bids had topped £1,900.
By the time it closed at 6pm yesterday (Saturday) the bids had reached £2,730.
The auction was held to raise funds to purchase essential support items and basic supplies for the city school, as well as arts, music and drama materials and activities. More than £34,000 was raised in total.
Henshall has now hung up his Perez boots following the culmination of Shetland’s seventh series. An eighth series, however, is due to start filming next year.
