WITH US president Donald Trump’s UK state visit making the national headlines, some local residents staged their own anti-Trump protest to coincide with the larger London demonstration.
Ten protesters stood “together against Trump” by holding up impromptu posters at Lerwick’s Market Cross on Tuesday morning, with a particular emphasis against privatising the NHS.
Organiser Debra Nicolson said considering that the protest had been organised at the last minute, she was pleased with the response and support the protesters received from locals and visitors alike.
“We got a lot of American tourists thanking us,” she said
