Council / Town hall flag flown at half mast for ex-councillor Eddie Knight
THE FLAG on Lerwick Town Hall is flying at half mast as a mark of respect for ex-councillor Eddie Knight, whose funeral is taking place today (Thursday).
Shetland Islands Council convener Andrea Manson said Knight was a “totally charming, lovely man and he’ll be greatly missed by all his family and friends”.
He was a councillor for one term in the Lerwick Harbour and Bressay ward, securing nearly 70 per cent of the votes in the 2003 election.
Among his other roles was being a trustee of Shetland Amenity Trust and a member of Lerwick Community Council.
Knight was also involved with the Shetland Seafarers’ Association and oversaw the installation of the merchant navy memorial at Hay’s Dock in Lerwick last year.
